As we wrote on the opening page, Fiľakovský Castle is the dominant feature of our city, and you are lucky that it is literally a stone’s throw from our restaurant. You have a wonderful view of it from our terrace, so you can see this historical monument already during a delicious lunch. Still, it’s worth a closer look. It is one of the most visited Slovak castles and it also includes a castle museum with an interesting period exhibition. If you are lucky and visit us during the summer months, be sure not to miss the Night of Museums or Castle Days. A visit to the castle is an excellent program for individuals, groups and families with children. This place definitely has a lot to offer. Do you like hiking, are you a fan of barbecues and trips to nature? Well, you really won’t believe us, but just a few kilometers from us you can bathe in sea water. The water from the geothermal well in the nearby village of Rapovce is reminiscent of sea water due to its high mineralization and chemical composition. It could be a remnant of sea waters from about 23-25 million years ago. Novolandia thermal swimming pool is popular with visitors from all over Slovakia precisely because of the healing effects of this water. Thanks to the high content of minerals and trace elements, it improves the vital function of internal organs, skin and muscles. Novolandia is open all year round and has outdoor and indoor pools. Experience the healing power of thermal water on your own skin and take a trip with the whole family or with friends. The journey from Fiľakov to Rapoviec takes approximately 14 minutes. http://www.aquaparknovolandia.sk/
Follow in the footsteps of dinosaurs and go back in time millions of years. The biological educational trail Ipolytarnóc in Ipeľske Trnovec (a village in Hungary), with a total length of 6 km, hides a lot of interesting things and surprises. Here you can see fossilized sediments from the bottom of the tropical sea dating back 24 million years, the remains of a subtropical forest dating back 17 million years, and a number of amazing exhibits prepared for visitors who love adventure expeditions. The village of Ipolytarnóc is located near the aforementioned Rapoviec, so you can combine this program with swimming in Novolandia.
Do you want to diversify your program with a little adrenaline? An excellent way to spend time in our surroundings is during the summer, rafting the river Ipeľ. Get to know the amazing nature in the surroundings by kayak or canoe, observe water birds and let yourself be carried away by the current of this lively river. You definitely won’t regret it. https://www.splavujipel.sk/
In the nearby district town of Lučenec, there are certainly plenty of opportunities to spend your free time. The synagogue was completely renovated and today offers visitors, in addition to beautiful spaces, interesting exhibitions, expositions and the possibility of cultural enjoyment. It is open to the public and you can even use the services of a guide who will tell you more about this dominant feature of the city. https://regionnovohrad.sk/polozka/zidovska-synagoga-v-lucenci/
